My phone camera was a little screwed so the lighting in the photo appears darker than it should be at 4 in the afternoon. Anyway, it's a simple design for the lamps in Koufu. They basically have sports balls as lights, and the ones at the pillars they just placed a basketball hoop around. It's interesting to me simply because it is, well, simple. Taking something we see in everyday life and then making it into something cool like this. Goes to show how much some of us take the things we see and experience everyday for granted.

Next, on the way home at night. This was taken at Promenade MRT station on the dhoby-bound platform. It's this cool structure of water droplets dripping down from the ceiling, and if you looked downstairs, you see this splatter painted onto the floor. Would have taken a pic of that as well but my train came. I don't really know why it's there, but it makes for an interesting yet random sculpture either way.

I Am Made For Sam

DMDG 2011 Des Fun trip today was awwwwwwww. some. Despite the fact that it was hot like mad towards the end of the day.

K anyway, this post will be entirely without any pictures or vids cos my internet's being a beeyotch, and the heats giving me a headache.

Moving on.

Couple of interesting things I saw today would be, well, first of all, the photography section in Singapore Living Galleries. Co it was there that I saw some really cool things, namely the cameras of old. Nowadays, what we normally see as cameras would be simply just these black/silver/whathaveyou box looking devices with 1) a shutter/ camera lens (duh) 2) a screen (for most digital cameras) and 3) many many buttons to snap photos, adjust the lighting, change the tone, add effects, zoom in and zoom out.

Compared to the really, like geez really old cameras, I'd say the cameras of the past looked way nicer in terms of their design. Ya sure, cameras in this day and age are slick and cool, but does it go as far as to look as cool as a wooden night-vision goggle?!

But seriously, some of the handheld cameras of the past really looked more amazing than the cameras nowadays. Some of them looked like camcorders with the lens like protruding out like a goddamn cannon (no, seriously lol). And ya, sure they're not the most convenient to use, not the best in terms of capabilities, but as someone who's supposed to look more on the design aspect of things, I'd rather choose aesthetics over convenience any day. For me, I'd pick a sword over a gun in any game. Unless of course it's actually possible to get the best of both worlds (i.e. Squall's and Lightning's gunblades)

But anyway, moving on. Miss Clyda said that what we saw at the kallang airport was more of contemporary art, so we might not get it. I guess that's true, considering how I felt it was more of a supernatural exhibition rather than an art exhibition. Most of the exhibits were done/organized/ shown/displayed/ conveyed in a very artistic way no doubt, and some definitely showed instances of design, but to me, it felt like some parts of the exhibition were more on the supernatural/ cultural beliefs/ history of/in singapore rather than on art itself. Take the human hair tied to car bumper ward thingy. It looked more like just a showcase of what some people do to ward of the "evil eye"(no, not maple), rather than an artistic showcase, because all I saw were these bumpers hanging around, with ropes of hair draped across. idk, maybe do something more creative with the amulets/ talismans/ wards? Or maybe I'm just still unable to see the creative side of things in life :/ After all, as MC says, everything around us in life is design.

But all in all, it was a fun trip with the guys from Grp 4, cos we were like all laughing and joking around and shit :)

What's that? my post is what? too wordy? har?

SORRY BUT I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE AWESOMENESS OF DM1104

In Soviet Russia, Turnstile Turn You

Vid doesn't belong/ wasn't made by me.
